Preview Of Bones 5.9 “The Gamer In The Grease”

Submitted on November 23, 2009 No Comment

The Gamer in the Grease” kicks off with Brennan and Booth being called to probe the death of Steve Rifton – a competitive gamer whose bodily remains are discovered in a (you got it) – “grease” truck! They soon discover Rifton’s claim to fame – he received a perfect score on a famous video game and was the only active player to have achieved that score. Some trivia – an actual retro game called Punky Pong had to be designed by the team of Bones, which will soon be posted on FOX’s website.

The Gamer In The Grease

As the minutes go by, the viewers find out that Rifton wasn’t one to sit back and bask in the glory of success. He, instead, turned his success into a money-making business – hired a referee and charged fans ( or fanatics ) to play on the same machine on which he attained a perfect score! A simple plan which catapulted Rifton to the very top of the gaming fraternity.

But money and fame brought with them envy, bitterness, sour business deals and, eventually, murder! Now, it’s up to Booth and Brennan to checkmate the killer in this deadly game.

And talking of virtual reality, this episode also discovers Hodgins, Sweets, along with Jeffersonian intern Colin Fischer, camping out for the premiere of James Cameron’s latest venture into a world of virtual reality – Avatar, a movie which also stars Moore – a recurring player on Bones. This, explained producer Stephen Nathan, was their attempt at some kind of “cross-over”.
